Habitat Happenings Fall 2022

Oct 28, 2022 |

On behalf of the whole team at Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington, I am happy to share some exciting news!

We are very pleased to announce two new build projects to take place over the next 3 years, one in Guelph on Speedvale Avenue East, and one in Fergus on Garafraxa Street West. Another project currently in the works is the redevelopment of the Orchard Park building, a partnership with the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph Eramosa Township. Between these three projects we will build a mix of over 145 market and Habitat units in the next 3-5 years.

Know a Family in Need of Housing?
We are currently looking for families to partner with! We are looking for families that can demonstrate:

  • A need – home is unsafe, unsuitable, or unaffordable
  • The ability to pay a mortgage
  • A willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity

Interested families and individuals can visit habitatgw.ca/apply to complete a brief Eligibility Questionnaire.

The Meaning of Home contest is back – January 9 to February 4, 2023!
The annual Meaning of Home contest invites Grades 4, 5, and 6 students from across Canada to submit a written poem or essay explaining what home means to them for a chance to win prizes, and to direct a grant to a local Habitat for Humanity build of their choice. Plus every entry creates a $10 donation to the local Habitat office from Sagen, the founding sponsor of the contest.
