1st Annual Youth Conference on Housing
This November, we’re engaging over 150 youth in immersive housing workshops and building projects to be auctioned to the public in support of our mission to change the landscape of affordable housing and we need your support. With youth participants from The Upper Grand District School Board, The Wellington Catholic District School Board, Beyond Borders, 2nd Chance, Lutherwood and The Anishnabeg Outreach Centre, your support will help a variety of youth navigate their upcoming path in housing security, encourage skilled trades employment paths, and provide youth with a voice to advocate for a better future.
Why Youth?
Our community needs to meaningfully engage the crucial, yet often overlooked, voices of youth in the pursuit of affordable housing solutions. We’ve created this event with the following goals in mind:
- Housing Education & Advocacy for youth to prepare them for the future
- Hands-on skilled trades projects (wooden structures) for fun, and to highlight the importance of trades in building affordable homes
- Fundraising $200,000 to support placing a family in a Habitat home

How You Can Support:
- By becoming a program sponsor to support youth in skilled trades projects and housing advocacy education
- By donating raw materials for the build projects
- By helping secure transportation for students and youth participants
- By volunteering your expertise to lead a youth carpentry team, leading a housing workshop, organizing logistics, or by helping out with the final Showcase Celebration
- By making a donation
Businesses and community members in Guelph Wellington play a vital role in shaping our local affordable housing landscape and you can help brighten the future of housing in our community. Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington aims to build 2,000 homes by 2030, and we need dedicated partners like you to achieve this goal. Be a part of the 1st annual youth conference on housing and make a difference for the future of our community.
