Strengthening Affordable Housing with Local Support

|

Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington is grateful for the inaugural $15,000 grant from the Centre Wellington Community Foundation. This funding, supported by Russel Cox & Family Catalyst Fund, will help strengthen long-term affordability and stability for families living at our Garafraxa Village community in Fergus.

These funds will be dedicated to ongoing site enhancements, maintenance, and minor repairs as needs arise. By addressing issues early, this program helps prevent unforeseen costs for families and ensures the community remains safe, well maintained, and affordable for years to come. Each year, Habitat will assess where the funding can have the greatest impact and will also explore matching opportunities to invite additional community partners to contribute.

Russel Cox, in 1947, founded Cox Construction in Guelph which is led today by his son Regan.  The company’s commitment to community building aligns closely with the Centre Wellington Community Foundation’s mission to connect donors, organizations, and resources to strengthen local impact. Recently, Habitat GW had the opportunity to meet with Russel to personally thank him for his generosity and his longstanding commitment to strengthening our community.

This partnership reflects the power of collaboration in advancing housing affordability and supporting families across Wellington County. We are deeply thankful to the Centre Wellington Community Foundation’s Russel Cox Family Catalyst Fund,  for their leadership and support. Partnerships like this play a critical role in ensuring families can build secure, stable futures through affordable homeownership.
