You don’t always need a hard hat and a hammer to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity! Whether you’re working in the ReStore or supporting administration, every volunteer role plays a crucial part in the success of our mission.
Immediate need for volunteers to help with our office renovation!
We are looking for volunteers to help in the renovation of our office space in Guelph. This will include: dismantling of desks, material handling to store office products, installation of insulation/soundproofing inside of office walls, painting, and reorganizing office equipment.
This project will run from February to March. Time commitment will be during the workday based on the renovation schedule.
Volunteer on a build site
Looking to swing a hammer to help build a home? You don’t even need any experience to get started as a Crew Member – we’ll teach you everything you need to know and provide you with all the tools to get the job done safely. Please note: our Cityview Village project has been completed, and we have not yet started our next build, which means there will be a delay in processing your application if you select this role until such time that we can bring you on.
Volunteer in a ReStore
Do you have an eye for merchandising, or a knack for customer service? Are you curious to see what happens in our warehouse where we manage donations of furniture, appliances, home decor and more? Why not volunteer in one of our ReStores! With locations in Guelph and Fergus, there are plenty of opportunities to give back to the community and connect with customers and donors.
In particular, our ReStores are often in need of volunteers who are interested in the following:
Kitchen Salvage
Our volunteer kitchen crew safely and efficiently dismantles, packs, transports, and reassembles used kitchens from local donors’ homes. We interact with donors and each other in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner. Must-haves: people skills, patience, reasonable agility for manual labour, respect for safety, good teamwork, and a willingness to learn proper use of tools and team lifts. All are welcome to apply.
Cleaning Associate
We are looking for people who have attention to detail and love to clean! Our product is constantly changing and needs to be cleaned before it goes to its new home. We are looking for someone to help keep a clean space, clean any product that comes in and is open to helping where needed. No experience is necessary, all are welcome to apply!
ReStore Associate
ReStore Associates are responsible for greeting, assisting, and answering customer questions about products, materials and communicating the Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington mission. They work in partnership with the team to ensure efficient service to customers and enhancing the store’s atmosphere. Provides support in the handling and processing of inventory. Cash opportunities available with necessary experience.
Warehouse Associate
The ReStore Warehouse Associate accepts donations received at the store, from entry into the store to pricing and stocking inventory onto the sales floor, and for providing an excellent customer service experience to both residential and corporate donors. Opportunities include testing products, sorting product, accepting donations, moving product from the warehouse into the store, and anything else as needed.
Volunteer on a crew
Do you enjoy being on the road and working with a small but dedicated crew? Do you have skills in carpentry, deconstruction, home renovation, or driving large trucks?
Join our Kitchen Salvage crew or our Donation Pick-Up crew to work directly with donors in our community. And if you have experience driving a truck, and a good driving record, we invite you to also apply to become a driver for these crews.
Volunteer at our events
Do you enjoy planning parties? Or helping out at special events? We are always looking for individuals to sit on planning committees for our signature fundraising events, as well as being on-site for the event to help with things like décor and event activities! If you’ve never been to one of our Ultimate Habitat House Parties, you need to see it in action!
Volunteer in our office
Do you have a skill that would help us stay organized, promote our work and spread the word about Habitat? There are several office volunteer opportunities for everyone, including office administration, finance, family services and marketing and communications.
Opportunities for students
You may be able to complete your 40 Community Involvement Hours through these opportunities. We also partner with local high schools, as well as colleges and universities to offer placements and internships.
